Welcome to Cal-Mum Elementary School
Cal-Mum Elementary School Principal Mr. David Bulter
March 24, 2021
Due to the safety protocols that must be followed during the pandemic, we will not be hosting an in-person kindergarten information night like we have in the past. Instead, we will be sending out a slideshow presentation in an electronic form for families to review to learn about our terrific kindergarten program. This presentation will be emailed to families and posted on our website on or about March 26th.
We will be mailing registration packets to incoming kindergarten parents that are in our database. Our current UPK families will receive forms that need to be updated for kindergarten. If you know of a family that did not receive a packet of information, please let them know that they need to contact Mrs. Laursen to register their child at 538-3445 or begin the registration process online. After they contact Mrs. Laursen, she will send these families a registration packet and enter them in our database so they will receive future mailings.
The screening date for incoming kindergarten students that are not currently in our UPK program is tentatively scheduled for Friday, May 14th. Students that are attending our UPK program will be screened for kindergarten during this school year by your child’s PreK teacher. The enclosed forms should be completed and returned to the Elementary School Office. If it is more convenient, you can mail it to the following address:
Mrs. Shannon Laursen, School Registrar
Caledonia-Mumford Central School
99 North Street
Caledonia, New York 14423
At this time period, we are hoping to have a kindergarten orientation at the end of August. Please understand, we will utilize the health department’s recommendations at that time period to determine what we can do to safely transition students into our kindergarten program. My hope is to give the students and parents an opportunity to visit their kindergarten classroom, take a bus ride and explore various parts of the school.
We realize that, at this time, all the information on the Physical Examination Form might not be available to you. This information must be completed by the first day of school in order for your child to attend. Children attending New York State Schools must be at least five (5) years old on or before December 1st. We are obligated by law not to enroll any child without the proper credentials. If you are not planning to register your child for the 2021 / 2022 school year, please let the Elementary School know as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
If you have any questions, please call the Elementary School at 538-3481.
