Welcome to Mr. Reed's 7th and 8th grade Social Studies Class. This is a two year sequence of American History. In 7th grade students study the beginning of history in the Americas to the Civil War. A focus in the 7th grade is how to study other cultures including Native Americans, causes and effects of the Revolutionary War, the New Nation that is formed as a result and the Civil War and its causes.  In 8th grade the students review the Civil War and study events up to current times. A focus in 8th grade is rebuilding the nation, becoming a national power, the causes and effects of the Great Depression, the Civil Rights movement and current issues.
