Cal-Mum 2001 alumni Troy Anderson named to Section V Track & Field Hall of Fame
Troy Anderson, a 2001 Caledonia-Mumford High School alumni, was inducted into the Section V Track & Field Hall of Fame on May 31, 2019 during the state qualifier meet in Sodus, NY. Former head Cal-Mum Raider Varsity Track & Field Coach Don Moran was there to present Anderson with the award. Former Red Raider Varsity Boys Track & Field and JV Football Coach Gary Cappotelli also attended the presentation of the Hall of Fame award to Anderson.
Current Cal-Mum Raider Varsity Head Boys Track Coach Josh Shelton, nominated Anderson for consideration to the HOF. In addition to all of Anderson’s impressive track and field accomplishments, Shelton had this to say about him.
“Troy Anderson is not only an exceptional athlete, but also an even better person. He has always displayed outstanding character both on and off the track. During his time here at Cal-Mum, Troy was the individual who inspired me to want to join Modified Track as a middle school student at Cal-Mum. He was a great role model to have growing up.”
Anderson set track and field records at Cal-Mum. He was a sprinter and long jumper from 1998-2001. He participated in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay, and the long jump. His personal record’s are as follows: 100 meter dash – 10.8 seconds; 200 meter dash – 22.1 seconds, long jump – 19 ft.
During his Junior year in 2000, Anderson was a double winner at the Section V Championship meet in the 100m and 200m. He went on to the State Meet at Liverpool High School that year and participated in the 100m and 200m. He tied for third place in the 100m, and took first place in the Class C 200 meter dash, earning the State Championship.
During his Senior year in 2001, Anderson won the Section V Championship in the 100m and 200m. He went on to participate in the State Meet at Hofstra University on Long Island. He finished third in the 100m, and third in the 200m.
Anderson ended his career as the Section V Class CCC Meet record holder in the 100m (11.0), and the 200m (22.5). He still holds the Caledonia-Mumford school record in the 100m (10.8), and co-owns the school record in the 200m with Corey Jones ‘88 (22.1).
He attended SUNY Brockport college and ran on the track team for one season as a Junior. During that season, he broke three school records in the 55m, 60m, and 200m.
Anderson also played four years of football at SUNY Brockport, and during his time there set the school record in the 40 yard dash at 4.30 seconds.
Anderson and his wife Courtney and son AJ live in Rochester.
