New York State Education Law provides that all children in New York State in proper physical and mental condition between the ages of six and through the year in which they turn 16, shall attend school while it is in session.
Parents are requested to call Caledonia-Mumford Central School in the morning if their child(ren) are going to be absent from school that day and provide a reason for the absence.
- Sickness or death in the family
- Impassable roads or inclement weather
- Religious observance
- Required to be in court
- Music lessons
- Remedial health treatment
- Approved cooperative work programs
- Approved college visit
- Military obligation
A student's absence for any reason other than the ones listed above is an unexcused absence.
A student that has been absent from school, must upon their return, furnish school authorities with a written excuse stating the reason for their absence. The written excuse must be signed and dated by the student's parent or guardian.
A student who has an unexcused absence from school may not attend or participate in any after school functions on that day.
